Former Parish Priest - Canon Sharkey
Due to his health, Canon Sharkey approached the Archbishop in February 2024 to express his desire to step down as Parish Priest of St Margaret’s and Our Holy Redeemer’s Parishes – in order to rest and recuperate. In response to Canon Sharkey’s decision, the Archbishop has appointed Father Boyle, the Parish Priest of St Eunan’s, to also be the Administrator of St Margaret’s and Our Holy Redeemer’s Parishes. In addition, the Archbishop has appointed Father Greg Zungdet to be the Assistant Priest in St Margaret’s, Our Holy Redeemer’s and St Eunan’s. Although the changes were decided a few weeks ago and took effect on Thursday 7th March, it was felt by the Archbishop and Father Boyle that it was best to respect Canon Sharkey’s wish to step down quietly after the celebration of the First Reconciliation.
Canon Gerald Sharkey was appointed to St. Margaret's and Our Holy Redeemer's to succeed Canon Tartaglia in September 2022. He was previously the Administrator of St. Andrew's Metropolitan Cathedral, Glasgow, and prior to that Vice Rector of the Scots College, Rome (2015-2017), and parish priest of Our Lady and St. Helen, Condorrat, Cumbernauld (2010-2015) and curate in the same parish from 2006. He was ordained priest in Holy Cross, Crosshill, Glasgow on 30th June 2006.

Deacon Frank Flynn
Deacon Frank has lived his whole life in the local area and was ordained a permanent deacon by Archbishop Conti in 2009. He worked for many years for Glasgow City Council (Housing Department), and having grown up and lived his whole life in Clydebank, he is respected and well-known here. More importantly, he gives devoted service in many areas of parish life, but particularly in celebrating the Sacrament of Baptism and visiting the sick in hospital and taking Holy Communion to the elderly and housebound.
Youth Ministers
The parish has long been blessed with committed youth workers who liaise with the clergy, volunteers, the schools and local organisations to support and assist the young people of the parish. For a number of years, this has been Tamara Sanchez-Kapostasy. Tamara is currently on maternity leave and we are grateful to Olivia Vong, originally from Singapore but currently studying at Glasgow University, for providing maternity cover until Tamara returns.
